Well it all started Monday early evening. The phone rang and I looked at the ID and it said something White. I thought to myself "I don't know anyone with the last name of White that'd need to call my house." so I didn't answer it, and I let my mom answer it. Turns out that it was Mr. White's wife calling about the marching band practices this week since I wasn't there Monday. I was all like "what the freak, I'm not DOING marching band." Turns out that if you don't have a Fall Sport, you have to do both Concert and Marching Band if you signed up for band. Now here was the surprise, the band camp which was being held at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, WV, was the same week that I was going to be in Myrtle Beach, SC. I was really depressed at first because I wanted to go to the beach, and didn't really want to do marching band.
Well I went Tuesday morning, and it turns out that I had sectionals 1-3. So I was there at 8 and was taught the fundamentals of marching since I wasn't there the previous day. I learned mark time march, right face, left face, and all face. The others that weren't there the previous day, and myself basically worked out of the whole group in our own little area with some of the previous marching band members for about 2 hours. Then we went back with everyone and worked on our marching together and what not. I grew to like marching throughout the whole day because it gave me a sense of pride about being able to be in my high schools marching band.
Finally came noon, and we were done with practice. Jordan, Bobby,and I went to this pizza place right by the high school and got pizza. I ordered some pizza, but didn't eat it. Then I hung out with Bobby until 1. Now was time for sectionals, lovely. We worked on three pieces for the whole time. Mr. White let us out at 2:30, but I stayed so I could wait for Bobby and Jordan. I had been at practice from 8 AM - 2:30 PM with only about a total of all the breaks reaching up to about 2 hours. I was rather tired
Well my dad called Mr. White last night and Mr. White said that instead of going to the one week band camp, which at this point I REALLY wanted to go to. I mean come on, being away from your parents for one whole week at a nice place and being able to hang with friends, who wouldn't want to go?!
Anyways, instead I am going to the pre-band camp the SAME week as my advanced horse camp. Yet ANOTHER surprise, oh joy. So now I'm not doing the horse camp but instead a pre-band camp from 9-12 the whole week. I already paid $100 for the horse camp, but hopefully Jenny will let me do another camp, or refund my money, because I paid for it with my own money.
Well today I only had marching band practice from 8-12. Sounds like it'd be easier than yesterday right? That's what I thought too at first. Well we immediately went outside to work on our mark time marching,faces,and now our pivoting at turns. We split up into groups of flutes,trumpets,lower brass, and percussion,the clarinets (GO US
), and finally the altos. So we worked on the pivoting for awhile, and I still suck at it, but I'm getting better XD. Well I thought THAT was hard, and yet another surprise was yet to come. We got back in a line and worked on another move that I forget what it's called. Now came the last surprise, WE WERE GOING TO PRACTICE ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD O_O. Yeah you're probably thinking, big deal, well here's the catch. I thought that we were just going to be up there for a bit, right? Well we were there for about two hours working on marching our 5 to 8's and what not. We worked mainly in groups of 8, but after we worked in our groups for awhile, we got all back together. Woo how fun. After being out in the heat on the football field practicing marching, I felt like I was about to pass out. Apparently I wasn't the only one because I 10th grader had to step aside because he felt like he was going to throw up, and I think he did. Then my friend stepped out because the heat was getting to her, and a PERCUSSIONIST (who is use to working in the heat fyi) had to step aside as well. Obviously the heat was making many feel sick.
We finally went back inside and practiced lay for about 45 minutes. Then I left. I came home and got on the bands website to look at the schedule. Let's just say, you won't see me much on weekends in the fall since I have to preform with the marching band at all the football games. Overall I like marching band, it's just a lot of work. There are many benefits to it actually. For example, Mr. White is taking the whole marching band to DISNEYWORLD! I am pumped
That's sometime next year though before school lets out
Another benefit is that it give you a sense of pride, and it truly does. Overall its really fun and worth trying, but it does take a lot of practice,energy, and commitment.
Tomorrow is out last practice and I have sectionals
So I will be there from 8-3 again 8D And the first thing we are doing tomorrow morning? Going to the football field! How fun. Anyways, yeah. I just thought since I had nothing else better to do that I'd type up a journal about my life so far in the marching band, and how many surprises you can meet in just a half of a week.
Other than that, life is good. I got to hang out with Bobby yesterday after practice, and jordan,bobby,and me went to go see You Don't Mess with Zohan. It's worth seeing, seriously
I get my braces of next Wednesday (the 18th) as well
And I get to see my best friend at the end of June 8D
So yeah, I think that's all.
I'll give anyone a pie who actually reads all of this. I really didn't expect it to turn out this long lmao

Summer is Coming to a Close 
The weather wasn't the greatest at the beach which was a downer 
But I was able to get down to the beach a lot

Tired
. I had had really bad headaches the previous day, and I started to have another one on Wednesday. So I asked Mr. White if I could call my mom to see if she could bring me some medication 
I am going to be taking a billion pictures
